Geopolitics in the Middle East
Geopolitics in the Middle East The Intricate Geopolitics of the Middle East ChaptersAn Overview of Middle East AffairsThe Iranian Nuclear DealThe Middle Eastâs Real Geopolitical HeavyweightWhat does Russia Have to do With Things? In spite of ominous North Korean nuclear development and quiet Chinese investment in economically disadvantaged countries, by far the most alarming political developments in Asia are the ones unfolding in the Middle East. Many people tend to see the Middle Eastern region as separate from Asia but, in fact, only Egypt and Cyprus are not considered Asian. With the exception of Iran, the heavy players in this region raise geopolitical concerns that are nearly the polar opposite to those of East Asia.Whereas China is a strong contender to upset â" or, at least revamp the economic world order, Middle Eastern countries pose a threat to global peace and security.Furthermore, Russian influence in that region is growing. To what end, we donât yet know; what are Mr Putinâs goals? The deluge of news, reports and analyses is overwhelming; ho w is anyone to make sense of what is going on in the Middle East and, more importantly, how will doings in the Middle East and North Africa affect global affairs?Your Superprof now attempts to condense the most cataclysmic events of that region into an easy to understand narrative.less religious than political, let us take a look at the individual flashpoints that make up Middle East geopolitics. How do Asian geopolitics impact activity in the Middle East? The Iranian Nuclear DealIn spite of Iran being home to one of the worldâs oldest civilisations, most people consider the current Islamic Republic, established in 1979, to be the only Iran there is to contend with. That does not explain the international bias in dealing with Iran, which could only have sprung from historic negotiations and conflicts. Suffice to say that there is substantial mistrust toward this country from global political leaders. Not every Iranian was happy with their countryâs new leadership, either. For instan ce, the Kurdish Rebellion, started a mere two months after the formation of the Islamic State in 1979, was brutally quelled, as were subsequent grassroots movements against the established government. With the new regime nearly continuously in turmoil, world leaders had good reasons to fear and mistrust Iranian leadership.Few foreign investors considered Iran as a base of operations; the countryâs main economic resources were oil and petroleum products, including plastics. It wasnât until Hassan Rouhani, the countryâs current president, came into power that Iran was able to improve relations with other world powers; doing so led to the 2015 nuclear deal.Rouhaniâs agreement to restrict his countryâs uranium production lifted the embargoes on Iranian oil and other products; that countryâs economy started to recover from the crippling sanctions it had operated under for so long. And then, Donald Trump became the United Statesâ 45th president. Also discover how African geopoli tics play out in the Middle East...Israel has a lot of weight in Middle Eastern affairs Image by Eduardo Castro from PixabayThe Middle Eastâs Real Geopolitical HeavyweightFrom the start, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu opposed the Iran nuclear deal.He contended that lifting sanctions and providing Iran even with minimal nuclear concessions was tantamount to nurturing a religious extremist regime and making it all the more dangerous for permitting it to develop a nuclear arsenal, no matter how slowly. He was not the only world leader uneasy about the pact but he was by far the most vocal... and, once the latest American president took office, he had a way to put a stop to it.The Iran nuclear deal had been endorsed by France, Germany and delegates from the European Union, as well as Russia, China, the UK and the US.It would only take one signatory backing out to negate all of the positive effects that the deal had so far accrued, including stability in the Middle East â" o ne step closer to peace. That is exactly what the American president threatened to do, less than a year after taking office.Less than a year after that, the U.S. did back out of the deal, and then went further by reimposing sanctions on Iran. The president then demanded that allies also not honour the treaty they had signed.Prime Minister Netanyahu seems to have a conduit into the White House; did he put a bug in the American president's ear about ending the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action? We almost have to believe he did.How do America's actions play out on the European geopolitical stage?Another Mideast flashpoint was declaring Jerusalem the true capital of Israel with no regard for the Palestine State. The root of the problem is the conflict that arose when Jewish folk immigrated into the region during the mid-20th century, effectively displacing Palestinians who had historically occupied that region. The idea was for Israel and Palestine to coexist as neighbours but sectarian vi olence and territorial incursions have thus far prevented a peaceful solution.Palestinians had long been promised at least the part of Jerusalem that was religiously significant to them. However, in declaring the entire city the capital of the Israeli state, the American president has undone decades of negotiations toward a peaceful solution to Israeli-Palestinian tensions. Were his actions a prelude to an as-yet-unseen foreign policy agenda or did Israelâs leader have anything to do with the apparently whimsical reversal of decades-old policy? If indeed Mr Netanyahu is calling the plays that Mr Trump executes, he is, without a doubt, the Middle East's heavy hitter.Discover also how U.S. policy affects Latin American geopolitics...Accused of atrocities during the Syrian war, Russians are now helping Syrians with their peace process Image by Dianne Ket from PixabayWhat does Russia Have to do With Things? As U.S. diplomacy increasingly favours Israel and Saudi Arabia, Russia is flexing its diplomatic muscles in the countries neglected by the U.S..Once isolated and ostracized, todayâs Russia is all about optics and appearance.True, the Russians were painted as bad actors in the Syrian civil war, but on the other hand, Mr Putin did help resurrect Bashir al Assad and that regime is now the strongest in the country. And now, Russians are helping to broker peace in Syria; an amazing turnabout.Mr Putinâs diplomacy doesnât stop there; he has forged deep ties with Egypt and is now working with Turkey to solve some of its most pressing issues economic and environmental issues.Historically, the only interest the U.S. has shown in Turkey was their help in fighting terrorism.Has the man every European leader has felt uneasy about suddenly mastered the art of international relations? Are Russian geopolitics getting ready to take centre stage? And what are geopolitics, anyway?Or does it have more to do with recent uncertainty projected by the United States that Mr Putin fin ally sees a way to make his country a more powerful player in global affairs?Even though todayâs Middle East conflicts are about political and strategic power, they were born of sectarian and religious differences. It hasnât helped matters that borders have historically been mostly arbitrary and leadership traditionally focused mainly on short-term goals rather than long-term solutions, both for their people and for the region. The silver lining of the dark clouds that shroud Middle Eastern skies is that leadership is turning away from tradition and drawing diplomatic lines along mutually beneficial enterprises rather than along religious affiliations.Egypt and other Sunni monarchies turning to Israel for innovations in security and information technology is a fine example of such.Still, in spite of these rays of hope stabbing the reality of Middle East turmoil, we can only wait and see what will happen, the more those countries pivot away from fundamentalism and embrace the give and take that is politics. Now get an overview of global geopolitics...

Algebraic Expressions
Algebraic Expressions Algebraic expression is an expression which contains variables and constants. In algebraic expressions we can perform all the algebraic operations like subtraction, addition, division, multiplication, we can also find the root and exponent in those expressions. There are different types of algebraic expressions that may contain one variable or more than that. The algebraic expressions can be simplified or solved by using different algebraic operations. The terms like 2x, 2x^3 + 4, 8x^2 9x + 7, 5a^2 + 8b 10c are all the examples of algebraic expressions. Following are some examples to understand the concept better. Example 1: Simplify given polynomial expressions (2x^2 + 3x 4) + (4x^2 + 7x + 8). Solution: In order to solve these types of problems, first we open parenthesis sign 2x^2 + 3x 4 + 4x^2 + 7x + 8 Now writing the like terms together, we get 2x^2 + 4x^2 + 3x + 7x 4 + 8 Simplifying the like terms, we get 6x^2 + 10x + 4 Example 2: Simplify algebraic expressions (x 2) (x + 2) + 2x^2 + 4x 8 (2x^2 + 3x 7) Solution: Given expressions (x 2) (x + 2) + 2x ^2 + 4x 8 (2x ^2 + 3x 7) Following the PEMDAS rule, the parenthesis should be opened first x^2 4 + 2x^2 + 4x 8 2x^2 3x + 7 Writing the like terms together, we get x^2 + 2x^2 + 4x 3x + 7 4 Simplifying the like terms, we get 3x^2 + x + 3

The Brigham Young University-Idaho College Experience
The Brigham Young University-Idaho College Experience Blythe earned her bachelors degree in geology from Brigham Young University-Idaho. She specializes in writing tutoring, science tutoring, and a number of other subjects. Below, she shares her experience at Brigham Young University-Idaho: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. Blythe: The campus is fairly small for a university campus. Its about a fifteen minute walk from one end to the other. The campus is rural, located in the small town of Rexburg, Idaho. I felt very safe on campus; there was never a time when I felt at risk in any way. There are buses for specific places, such as Walmart or certain apartment complexes. However, nearly everything needed is within walking distance, so neither a car nor bike isa huge necessity. How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants? Blythe: In my experience, the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants are always available. If the professors arent available, their TAs definitely are. As a former TA, I can attest that we were available as much as possible for the students. The campus is very student friendly. The professors all are working there because they want their students to succeed, so they make themselves available as often as possible. I did not have a single professor that was unwilling to work outside of the classroom with a student. How would you describe the dorm liferooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Blythe: I did not participate in the dorm life, but most of the apartment complexes are located within a five or ten-minute walk to campus. Both dorms and off-campus apartments live by an honor code; all students abide by it, whether they live in dorms or apartments. The Honor Code is a set of rules or guidelines each student pledges and promises to follow, which creates a safe and respectful environment on and off campus. There are usually two persons to a room, and anywhere between four and eight to apartments, depending on the size. The socialization opportunities are excellent. Almost every evening, and definitely every weekend, there are multiple social activities going on. These vary from dancing, to cultural celebrations, to group hikes. There is a great variety of activities continuously being held. Ive never been in a more social environment. Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? Blythe: The majority of the majors and programs are represented and supported. It seems like I heard more about the communications major than any other major, but each program on campus is supported. I studied geology, because I love learning about the processes of the earth and its formation. BYU-I is lacking a bit in the support of the sciences, however. There are fewer students majoring in science than in other areas, such as communications and physical therapy. As a result, the university really cuts back on the funds and classes for the science departments, especially geology. The science professors, however, fight fiercely to keep the departments running smoothly and efficiently, so I would still recommend majoring in science. How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Blythe: As a freshman, it is extremely easy to meet people and make friends. The orientation at the beginning of each semester is centered around getting the students involved in as many activities as possible. I fully believe the school puts almost as much work into the social aspect, as it does the academic aspect. They do not have a Greek life at BYU-I. How helpful is the Career Center and other student support services? Blythe: BYU-I has a career center, a tutoring center, and rehabilitation classes, just to name a few services. There are many different student support services, and if you utilize them, they are very helpful. In my experience, there is not a ton of campus recruiting. The recruiting that I do remember was for things such as student leadership conferences and career fairs. How are the various study areas such as libraries, the student union, and dorm lounges? Blythe: Every study area is easily available. The library can get a bit crowded at times, but other than a few days out of the semester, you can always find a place to study in the library. The library has a specific floor for quiet studying, so its always a great place to go before taking a test. Even if you cant find a place in the library, which is extremely rare, there are multiple lounge areas located in every building and every apartment complex. There is always a place to study and most of them are spacious. Describe the surrounding town. Blythe: The surrounding town is small, but quaint and homey. There are several places to spend time and do activities. The campus has game rooms and a bowling area. There are a few movie theaters in town, one of which has bowling, an arcade, and mini golf. There are four or five parks located around town as well. The Teton Mountain Range is less than two hours away, and is great for hiking, camping, and various outdoor activities. Closer by, there are multiple camping and hiking areas. The area is perfect for almost any activity you can think of. How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Blythe: The student body has around 20,000 students. The class sizes range from 15-40 students, depending on the class. Ive never been in a class with more than 45 students in it. It makes the class very engaging and it makes it easy to listen and ask questions, and get in depth responses from the professors. Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one you regret the most. Blythe: One of my most memorable experiences at BYU-I was during what the Geology Department calls Field School. We went out into the field for six weeks and studied and utilized all the skills we learned in our classes. It was an excellent learning and growing experience, spending that much time with our peers and colleagues. During that time, I grew to know my peers not just as peers, but as family. We learned to work with each other in ways I never realized were possible. The last two weeks were the most intense and rigorous physically and mentally. The weekend before, I was in a biking accident and I was having a hard time walking. Everyone was so helpful, that it actually began to be a bit annoying. As annoying as it got, the help and support that everyone there provided me was a great comfort. Field School was one of, if not the single, hardest thing Ive ever done. Without the aid of my professors and peers, I would never have finished it. As hard as it was, it was also the mos t memorable and fulfilling thing I have done thus far. What makes BYU-I great is not the college itself, its the people. They are genuine, kind, loving, and fun. They make each other better, and they make attending BYU-I worth it. I Received a Severance Agreement Offer Now What
Introvert Whisperer / I Received a Severance Agreement Offer Now What I Received a Severance Agreement Offer: Now What? When you have been terminated, you are not only inconvenienced with job searching and lost time/experience but also loss of income. If you are fired/laid-off for reasons unrelated to misconduct, you will most likely be offered a severance agreement. A severance agreement because of its promise of payments, insurance benefits, and other amenities seems like a good answer to a bad situation. However, this contract usually has hidden terms that could adversely affect the worker, so before signing any severance package you should have it thoroughly analyzed by an attorney. Does My Employer Have to Offer Severance Pay? Typically, employers are not required to offer severance pay. However, if you have a contract that requires a severance agreement or if your employee handbook has personnel policies including severance pay for terminated employees, it is required. What Should Severance Pay Include? Every severance package should include five things: Payments: A decent severance agreement usually provides one to two weeks of compensation for each year an employee worked for the company/business. Insurance Benefits: In some cases, it is possible for you to continue enjoying the life, disability, and health insurance you had during your employment at the company provided and paid for by your employer for a certain period. This is not the same as COBRA, which requires employers to continue offering benefits but not pay for them. Assistance Finding Employment: Severance agreements may offer services to help you, the former employee, find new employment through resume assistance, career counseling, and practice reviews. Recommendation Letter: When you are looking for a new job, a recommendation letter, if not crucial, is very helpful. Severance packages can include this vital piece of paper. Uncontested Claims: Employees who lose their jobs will no doubt file for benefits, and their employers will undoubtedly contest them. A severance package can include an agreement prohibiting your employer from contesting your claim. One of the best steps to avoid severance agreement problems is to read the contract thoroughly. Ask yourself the question Could the severance agreement could hinder you more than help you? Sure, you may receive benefits that will aid you; however, you will no longer be able to dispute your employer if it does not include the benefits you thought it did. Avoid this hassle by having your lawyer review the contract and negotiate terms.

Online Z Scores Table Tutors
Online Z Scores Table Tutors Definition: - z score table is also known as standard normal distribution table. z score table list the area under the standard normal curve between z=0 and the values from .00 to 3.09. First column gives the value of the first digit after the decimal and top row gives the value of two decimal places of the z score. Example: - Find the area under the standard normal curve between 1) z=0 and z=1.95 2) z=0 and 3.01 Solution: - 1) We divide the number 1.95 into two portions: 1.9 (the digit before the decimal and one digit after the decimal) and .05 (the second digit after the decimal. (Note that 1.95= 1.9 +0.05). To find the required area under the standard normal curve, we locate 1.9 in the column for z on the left side of the z score table and .05 in the row for z at the top of the table. The entry where row for 1.9 and column for .05 intersect gives the area under standard normal curve between z=0 and z=1.95. So the area between z=0 and 1.95 is 0.4744. (From the z score table). 2) Similarly we will get the area between z=0 and 3.01 is 0.4987

Homework A Getting Things Done® Approach for Teens with ADHD
Homework A Getting Things Done ® Approach for Teens with ADHD For 15 years, Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity, by David Allen, has influenced the way millions of business executives manage their time, keep track of everything they need to accomplish in a day, and maintain their productivity despite constant interruptions. Teens with ADHD arent busy executives, but they do have hectic lives that often leave them feeling overwhelmed, struggling to manage information overload, and juggling an ever-changing number of assignments, tasks, and commitments. These are the very challenges that an organizing system, like Getting Things Done, is designed to target, whether youre an executive at a Fortune 500 company, or a busy teen managing school, extracurricular activities, and a social life. All teens struggle to keep up sometimes, but most teens intuitively adopt strategies that help them manage their day-to-day lives relatively effectively. Teens with ADHD, on the other hand, typically feel like they simply cant keep up, and lack the required executive functioning skills that are needed to intuitively manage their daily influx of assignments and responsibilities. As a result, teens with ADHD become anxious and avoidant when they think about tackling their growing to-do list, and they continue to fall behind. To overcome their executive functioning challenges, and break out of an anxiety and avoidance cycle, teens with ADHD need to learn specific strategies and systems for recording assignments, ideas, and tasks, and seeing them through to completion. Getting Things Done is a system designed to turn the ideas and tasks floating around in our heads (and causing anxiety) into actionable items that can be completed efficiently. In fact, the Getting Things Done slogan is, Your mind is for having ideas, not holding them. Getting Things Done is based on 5 key steps that can easily be adapted to meet the needs of almost any teen with ADHD, especially when it comes to getting homework done! The Five Key Steps to Getting Homework Done: Capture Record everything that you need to get done. Every teen with ADHD has hundreds of thoughts, ideas, and to do items bouncing around in his or her head. It is simply not possible to rely on memory alone without forgetting items or missing due dates. Its essential that every single assignment, upcoming test, or task (like getting a permission slip signed, or bringing supplies to school) be written down. In addition, each of these items needs to be recorded in the same place. Too often some assignments are captured as reminders in text messages or emails (sent to yourself), while others are noted in a Word document, or in the schools online homework system (like Blackboard), or on random sheets of paper in notebooks or stuffed in the bottom of a bag. Pick one location and stick with it whether its a Word or Evernote document, a paper notebook, or a notes section of the schools homework assignment system. If its not captured in writing, its probably not going to be done well and on time. Clarify Turn assignments into action items and next steps. Simply recording your assignments in one place is an accomplishment when you have ADHD! Mastering this first step is essential, and will help you stay in control of your assignment list. But, to finish your assignments quickly and on time, there are a few more steps youll consistently need to take. Clarifying exactly what you need to do in order to complete each assignment is the next essential step. Creating a checklist of assignment action items provides you with a roadmap for your work and breaks bigger projects down into smaller manageable chunks. For some assignments, the checklist list will be short. For example, Complete Math Worksheet may have only two items on the checklist, (1) complete worksheet, (2) doublecheck for errors. More complex assignments, like Write Spanish Essay will require longer action item checklists: (1) develop topic, (2) create outline, (3) write thesis statement, (4) write the body, (5) write the introduction, (6) write the conclusion, (7) revise, (8) p roof read. Organize and Prioritize Group your action items together into meaningful categories. Using a homework whiteboard, a Word or Evernote document, or an online project management tool, like Trello, organize and prioritize your action items. Getting Things Done recommends using only three categories: Now Tomorrow and Later. For assignments with a Later due date, make sure you enter a reminder into your calendar. Then, look at the action items for the project, and see if there are any steps you should be starting today or tomorrow, and add them to the appropriate list. Review and Reflect Do a weekly review of your lists to clean-up, update, and clear your mind. With your assignments displayed visually, you are now able to easily scan your categories and see if there is anything that needs to be moved from Later into Now or Tomorrow. I recommend scanning this list once a day to make sure youre not missing anything, and so that you have a very clear sense of how much youll have on your plate in the coming days and weeks. Engage Simply Do. Use your system to take appropriate actions with confidence. Now that you have very clear action items on your list, and a knowledge of what needs to be done when, you can dive in and get started. For many of the kids and teens that I have worked with, simply completing the first step of a project (no matter how small that step is) makes it much easier to overcome procrastination as the project due date approaches. The project feels less overwhelming because its already been started! For smaller assignments, like completing a math worksheet, the act of quickly completing the task and crossing it off your list will give you a great sense of accomplishment and will help you feel motivated to tackle the next action item. Incorporating a structured system like Getting Things Done into a homework plan will help all teens with ADHD get assignments completed efficiently and on time. This is a huge benefit, but just as importantly, it can help teens with ADHD develop a sense of competence and control over their academic life. Anxiety will decrease, and time with friends and family becomes more relaxed and fun! To learn more about Getting Things Done, visit David Allens website at https://gettingthingsdone.com. ABOUT DR.
